Good fish and chips and surly staff, you'll find tourists and locals alike in here.

The dungeon-like underground atmosphere is cool and strangely comforting. A great place for a pub lunch or quick drink with friends.

One of my favorite pubs in York.

Lendal Cellars has a great location, but unfortunately the service and the food aren't so great...

The day we visited it was obvious that there simply weren't enough waitstaff working to handle the number of customers present.  As if that weren't bad enough, one staff member was actually SHOUTING at a customer, complaining that this was supposed to be her day off...

The table we were seated at was sticky, and had obviously not been completely cleared from the previous party.  The food took forever to come, and when it finally arrived it was bland and poorly presented :-(

A little bar down an alley way located underground.

The style of it feels like we're in a little underground tunnel with brick walls and and dark type of atmosphere which really gives an extra nice feel.

Had the breakfast of egg and bacon sandwich and have to say that for pub food that it was really nice.

Service was great, coming up and ask if how our food was etc etc

Didn't have a beer, but appears to be a good range of ales and beers for any person looking for a good tasting beer to sit around and have a chat with a friend.

Only complaint would be a little damp smell at the bottom steps and the toilet being a but awkwardly located being outside and up the stairs away from the bar.

So all in all a nice place to have a drink. Bit of a dungeon bourgeois atmosphere but again all that is gone once it's gets flooded with people. Well ..... I should complain I mean we all have a right to drink in this world :-p

The thing is you need to come on happy hour on this place you get fantastic deals on your drink like 2 for 1 cocktails. And the cocktails ate really good. Believe me I tried them ..... all!!!!

In any way it is wroth the visit if you are in the hood

This is a lovely pub, nice setting, large paved beer garden where we sat in the sun, and cheap cheerful food.

My craving for mac and cheese was completely satisfied, so I was happy.

The beer garden was quite untidy with ciggie ends, and the bar staff let more than one manner-free customer barge past the polite queue that had formed for food, and downstairs inside didn't smell too pleasant- but overall staff were polite.

Cheap, reasonable food and drink, nice interior, just choose where you sit carefully, and have the willpower not to trip over boisterous bar shovers!
